Domino Image of the Day

By now we have all heard the sad, sad news of Domino coming to an end. I've decided to go through the hundreds of images that I have collected over the years and post one of my favorites everyday through March. I hope you'll enjoy this journey looking back as much as I do.

To kick it off, here is one of my all time favorites- we have seen it time and again, but it still comes back to me as one of my favs!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Blogger Help Needed

Ok, this is going to sound really odd but I'm just going to post it anyways. My best friends Mom has these candles, they are from France and are made by Doux. Now, she cant remember where she bought them, which would be fine because usually I can find anything online BUT in this case I can not and its driving me nuts! Its driving me nuts because I love these candles, they smell like heaven!

Here is a picture I took of the candle.

So, I'm turning to the blog world...you all know everything! I figured maybe, hopefully someone out there will know where I can get these amazing smelling candles (to me at least)

Thank you in advance for your help, I really, REALLY appreciate it!

PS- the only Doux products I can find online is soap, ugg I don't want soap I just want candles...

Loving This...Plantation

I'm currently loving:

Can you tell I'm really into bright, deeply saturated colors? They are so cheery during the cold and dark winter here in Boston and make me happy.

You can find more fun things at the Plantation estore

The Way I See It #21

So I rarely pay attention to the vessel that my morning drug fix, I mean Starbucks coffee, is served in. But today I noticed the quote on the side of the cup was a great one and I had to share.

" People need to see that, far from being an obstacle, the world's diversity of languages, religions and traditions is a great treasure, affording us precious opportunities to recognize ourselves in others." (Youssou N'Dour, Musician)

So this morning I'm trying to be positive in spite of the sad news about Domino and I raise my grande, sugar free vanilla, soy, no foam, extra hot latte to Youssou!

Mary McDonald Love

My new favorite quote about decorating and interior design is from the uber talented Mary McDonald in the latest issue of Domino Magazine (tear, sniffle).

"I tend to start with old-fashioned things, but once there's flow, I get funky"

This definitely sums up how I love to decorate as well, I may not get as funky as her, but I try in my own way. Love Mary!!

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!

Updated Etsy

I finally got my act together to take pictures of all the stuff I have been busy making for my Etsy Store Everything LEB Shop. I'm still working on the whole photography thing, I could use some help in that area- but its getting better!

If you take a look, tell me what you think! Thanks everyone!!

Weekend Project #2

I decided to paint the chair a bright aqua to match the pillows- a much better change from the red. I also was in a creative mood and wanted to add the twill trim that I used on my curtains to something else, so I added a border to the chocolate throw pillows I had. What do you think, hot or not??

The room is coming along, but of course there are still more changes I would like to do. But, with all changes, it just takes more money.

I'm thinking the CB2 Peekaboo table would be nice, but I have to do some more shopping to see all my choices.

Weekend Project #1

I finally finished putting all the buttons on my headboard, added a fun yellow pillow from Legacy Bedding and I'm done! Well, done until I decide to change it to anther color.

Bakelite I Mean French Ivory

UPDATE:
I stand corrected, Eddie Ross so nicely informed me that it is not Bakelite as I had first though, but actually French Ivory! Either way, I love it and it will look great at any place setting. Thank you Eddie!!

I totally forgot to post about the great set of Bakelite knives that my Grandparents gave me for Christmas. My Grandmother knows my love of antiques and since I had been talking about Eddie Ross's antiquing adventures alot, she thought she would start me on my very own collection. Eddie actually did a post on Bakelite, which I found interesting (Eddie you can correct me if I am wrong and this is not actually Bakelite but something else)

Here is my tiny start to a collection:

Here is Eddie's beautiful collection:

Hopefully one day I'll have a collection like his, and can set a beautiful Thanksgiving table like he does so well!

A little Detail- Accomplished

I finally finished my curtains in the family room... actually I finished them awhile ago but I just finished cleaning up the mess I made so I could take pictures and not be embarrassed.

So here is the before again:

And here is the after: (sorry the pics were taken at night and are kinda dark)

You can also see my awesome new orange throw that I had been lusting after for awhile, it finally went on sale and it had to be mine!

After I saw these pictures on the computer I realized that I don't like my red chair anymore. It doesn't seem to "flow" next to the orange throw and the aqua pillow, so the next project is to paint it. I'm thinking either white, aqua to match the pillow, or the light blue that I have on the walls behind the bookcases...what do you think?? Paint it, leave it, colors? Please help I'm stuck, thanks!!

Weekend Shopping Recap

So no dice on an armoire this weekend. I'm kinda sad about it, but I also know that something will come along sooner or later I've just got to keep searching! The weekend was not a total bust for shopping though, I found some cute things at Homegoods and at an antique store.

First, this cute plate I fell in love with for the pattern and color- it was the last one left and on sale for $1! I'll use it for appetizers, cookies, or whatever suites my fancy when I'm entertaining.

Then, in the next isle over I found this cute little jar with the same pattern on it. I put it on the shelf over my sink and it is currently being used to hold my Equal and Splenda packets.

Last, and my favorite of the finds, is this beautiful silverplate serving spoon with a monogrammed B on it for $1! Its like it was just waiting there just for me to scoop it up, I love it!

For a grand total of $5 for these three items, I'd say I had a pretty fab shopping weekend!

Love it or Hate it?

There are no pictures out there yet, so my phone camera will have to do. Not sure who makes the dress yet but the First Lady looks BEAUTIFUL!!

Ok, to be honest at first I didn't really like it, but as I kept watching her and seeing all the detail in the dress and how she was just glowing, I fell in love with it! Watching the President and First Lady dancing to Beyonce was so great, they are such a cute couple!!

UPDATE:

The dress is by Jason Wu- a newcomer in the fashion world, as he is only 26 years old!! I think its so funny that he found out with the rest of the world that the First Lady chose his dress. What a special night for him too, the dress will be donated to the Smithsonian Museum and he will forever be part of history.

Isabel Toledo- Michele Outfit #1

I'm very much enjoying Michele's first outfit of the day! A fabulous ensemble by Isabel Toledo, classic and refined, yet oh so stylish!

I cant wait to see what tonight's gown will look like!

Armoire Needed

Sometimes its so hard to find that perfect thing you are looking for, you know that item that you have all picked out in your head and you know exactly what you want it to look like. I'm having that problem right now, I need an armoire/hutch/bookcase/ something for my kitchen. See image below:

We have two doors in our apartment, one of the doors happens to be in the kitchen and is really not needed. What I do need, however, is some more storage and a place to put all that stuff that does not have a specific home. I want something with doors so my stuff has a place to hide, I don't want it new looking, needs to be tall to cover most of the door (which is 88" tall), it cant be too wide since I have the kitchen table there, and it has to be real wood none of that press board crap. See not too much to ask for right?
These are what I have found- I love all of these and would take any of them home

Only issue is, they are mostly antiques and are WAY out of my price range. Ugg, its so frustrating to know what you want and not be able to get it right away.

I'm off to my parents house in the country for the long weekend to do some antiquing or junktiquing as Mrs. Limestone called it. I'm hope I can find something, I'm even willing to put a little paint and elbow grease into it I just want to find the right shape.

Wish me luck on my search, and I hope everyone has a fabulous long weekend!
