search word jackpot

I have this fantasy that I will open up Craigslist one day and everything that I've ever looked for will pop up within one mile of me, all for great prices of course.  Oh and they can all be delivered to my doorstep.

Right now at the top of my Craigslist search is a set of pretty brass (or any metal really, but brass is tops) chairs.  By set, I'd like 2 arm chairs OR 6 dining chairs.  Also, it would be like picking the Power Ball number if they were covered in some delicious, perfect condition velvet or leather.  But I wont push it, those changes I can make with a trip to the upholsterer, I just want the chairs.    I have no place for these chairs, but if I found them I'm sure I could find space.

Look how pretty they look!

Those floors?!?  I would LOVE for floors like those! Not to mention those windows, the shelves, and the blue doorway!

What do you think? Are metal chairs for you?

Lady Crush

I've got myself a serious lady crush on Ashley Whittaker and whoever lives in this Manhattan apartment.  This is what my dreams are made of.  Seriously though, when I imagine the backdrop to my past single life, this is what is in my head. Or when I imagine a movie being made about me, this is the kind of apartment they will film it in.

I decided I wanted to add a few of the elements of this space into my own and came up with a list of pieces I needed, here they are

Modern Monet

Sometimes I focus on the things I cant have, rather than the things I have.  I'm only human. Everyone has those feelings sometimes, right?  After this post I am going back to being grateful for all the things I do have, but first I want to discuss this wallpaper that I'm in love with.

Now, I suppose I could have wallpaper in my apartment.  But for what this stuff costs, I think I'll wait till I own a place.  There is just something that grabs me about how from far away these all look like traditional patterns, but up close they a crazy, funky party on wallpaper.

Up first is my favorite, favorite!  This is going on my MUST have list because I love it that much.

Its called City Park and its just so fun!!  I think the rats are my favorite part.  I'd take rats on wallpaper over real life any day!

How pretty is this bathroom??  At first glance you dont even notice the rats, do you?

Next up, another one from Flavor Paper

It's called Brooklyn Toile and it was designed by Mike Diamond from the Beastie Boys.  So hipster cool.

This one is so cheeky.  Each little story on the paper makes me smile.  Its called Chinatown Toile and also might be my husbands favorite, he LOVES Chinatown.

I keep saying I love them all, but I really do.  This one has skeletons and its great! Its called Dia de Dumbo, a fun take on Dia de los muertos.

Being from New England horse rodeos aren't something that happen everyday around here.  Or crazy college football or oil drilling for that matter.  But, I still think this paper is really fun.  It was love at first site since the day I saw it in Baileys bar area

So what do you think, are they as fun as I think they are?  Would you ever put them in your own home?

Store it

Being a renter has its advantages and certainly lots of disadvantages.  For someone who loves design, like myself, the whole not being able to make permanent changes is really annoying. On the other hand though, would I really want to spend lots of $$$ to make personal changes when I'm just going to leave in a year or two?

In the meantime, the longer I live in my apartment the more I know for certain what is on my list of must haves for my own place.  Like with many apartment dwellers one of the items that tops the list is STORAGE.  Given that I see apartment/condo living for us in the future and extra bedrooms may not always be an option, storage is key!

Seriously, what I wouldn't give to have built in bookcases & cabinets next to my fireplace and in the office.

All that storage space for books and things in the cabinets- I don't know what I would do with myself.  I cant wait till I don't know what to do with myself!

Happy Friday everyone!!

Lake House Dreams

I dream of having my own lake house one day.  This image just sent me into a real estate stalking craze. I think I just wasted approximately 2 hours Maine lake house stalking.

I want to be that kid again!

holy view!

The view from these windows is insane!

I love how those chairs were made into stools

The blue is perfection

Those floors are just perfect in a lake house

Honey, if you are reading this I want Santa to bring me one of these, ok?

Here fishy, fishy

When I was little and would go fishing at my lake I would always say the same thing over and over again in hopes that a little fish might come on my hook.  It went something like this - fishy, fishy in the lake, please come and bite my bait.

These days I dont go fishing anymore but I sure would like to have some fish in my house in the form of wallpaper.

Is this rounded staircase with the de Gournay Fishes wallpaper and that crystal ship chandelier not the most awesome thing?  It looks like you are walking inside an actual fish tank!

My favorite being the one I can't afford, of course. The hand painted de Gournay paper from Katie Ridder's (my idol BTW) bathroom is breathtaking.  To me it really isn't regular old wallpaper, it's a work of art. I'd love to win the lottery to have it in my home one day!

And just when I thought it couldnt get any worse...MONKEYS!

I die.

It reminds me of this little guy I met in Sri Lanka.  I really wanted to take him home with me.

My life will not be complete till I have fish, monkeys and my favorite elephants, in my house!!
