Orange and Blue

I don't think I will ever get tired of orange and blue.  They were my wedding colors, they are used in my family room, and seem to turn up over and over in my closet.  Here are a few of my favorite orange and blue items perfect for this Summer

Essie Aruba Blue and Tart Deco show up on my nails and toes quite often

I have these Ann Taylor jeans in coral, turquoise and green and I think I will live in them all summer long- I'm obsessed to say the least.

The J. Crew Perfect shirt really do have the right name, they are perfect in every way.

My brother gave me this Gigi Clutch for Christmas and I love it.  It goes with everything, holds all my necessities for a night out and is the perfect shade of orange.

Asos has great accessories- I love this blue belt.

These Orange stud earrings are a colorful alternative to classic diamond studs.

It tends to get chilly at night when the sun goes down, this blue scarf would be lovely for those cool Summer nights.

Oh what I would give for an Orange Hermès bracelet of my own.  When I start my own business and finish my first big design project this will be the first present I buy myself- I can't wait for that day!

So tell me, what are your favorite go-to colors?

All you need is love

Since everyone I basically know is pregnant right now I figured I'd work on using purple in a nursery this time.  I'm actually really liking this space I think I could live with the color scheme in my own family room or bedroom

I think my favorite part is the Lee Jofa Indianola Weave fabric- I have to find a way to use that in a real life nursery project for sure.  I also love the All You Need is Love poster, perfect for baby and Mom & Dad.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Purple Family Room

Now that school is over I have been working on getting my creative energy out in ways that I want, and not what my teacher wants.  In order to get the most out of school I am trying to work on things we discussed in class.  One of those topics was working with colors that aren't particularly my favorite.  One of those colors is a red-purple, so I put this board together using that color on a side chair and went from there

One thing at a time

Since the day my kitchen got a little upgrade with a new rug I have been meaning to tackle the window situation I've got going on in there.  My apartment doesn't get much light as it is, so I don't want to block any of the precious sun light that comes in. But I also need to address the privacy issue as the neighbors across the alley seem to always sit and look right into our kitchen all the time!

I guess the apartment blinds might have to stay for now, but I can at least make a cute faux roman shade or hanging valance to dress it up.  I have a few yards of this that I might use, but deciding on a style is the 1st priority.

Since I cant make a decision to save my life I've been searching for inspiration

Cant go wrong with orange and blue of course

Pretty trim!

I could even get away with doing a no sew option, I like that easy idea!

AND..... Pinterest has officially set me off on a wild goose chase! I now want to rip apart our home office and install something like this, holy cow I'm in love!

I've got two short weeks till my next class starts. Think I can make a kitchen window treatment, renovate our office, and tackle the other million things on my list?  Yea, I guess I'm pushing it a tad.  One thing at a time is what I keep telling myself.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Sources

You know I'm in the middle of my mid-terms or finals when there is so much dead space going on over here...so sorry about that. I didn't mean to leave you all hanging!  But my final is over, I think it went well- of course there is more I could have done but there are only so many hours in the day.  I have two weeks of freedom before my summer class starts and I am so excited to relax and get those 1,000 projects on my list tackled started.

Anywoo, while I get my desk cleaned up and my act together I thoght I would post the sources that I promised you all last week.

This space started off with my new fabric obsession.  The Manuel Canovas Dara fabric.  I think it could be a new favorite like the Chiang Mai craze.

Oly Studio white end tables
Orange Robert Abbey lamps
Throw pillows on sofa are from Caitlin Wilsons awesome new fabric line (I used Jade Byblos and Mint Fretwork)
Jonathan Adler Preston Cocktail Table
Bungalow 5 blue tray
Stray Dog Designs pink side table
Dash and Albert green and white striped rug

I think that's everything for now.  Happy Thursday everyone!

Procrastination

I'm the queen of procrastination.  If you recall my midterm project was finished at approximately 3:30am due to my procrastination issue.  This time around I'm trying hard to get most of my final done before that 3:30am mark.

Yet, clearly I am not succeeding at this task very well.  Case and point, this family room board I put together instead of working on my final today

I'm getting the sources pulled together right now, I'll update this post later with all the lovely sources.

Happy Friday everyone!!

Green is good

I have enough tchotkes around my house to keep a cleaning lady busy for YEARS dusting.  It's kinda a problem I have, you know throwing away (or giving away) stuff.  Let's not talk about the years and YEARS of old magazines I have hoarded stored away.

Back on subject, I get these items stuck in my head and I cant rest till I get what I'm looking for (I think this might have something to do with my hoarding problem too). Today I've been searching for some pretty green accessories tchotkes, I'll call a spade a spade and landed on some pretty cute ones over at Goodwill.  None of them were exactly what I was looking for, but they are really cute and I wanted to share.

All of these would be so lovely on a dresser with some jewelry, on a coffee table with some matchbooks, in the kitchen with candy...or just about anywhere you need a little color.

You can find all these and more at Shop Goodwill online.

Happy Shopping!

Alright, next on the agenda is a question to all my lovely readers.  Do any of you have one of these amazing contraptions, also known as a Cricut machine?

Is it hard to use?  Do you have software that allows you to hook it up to your computer and make your own designs?  I don't want to get one and be stuck buying all those silly cartridges for it, I want to make my own designs.  Help a girl out and give me some advice, would you? peaceloveandthanks.

Lastly, and I can NOT believe I am about to post this for all to see, I need help with a major eye sore.  And it goes as follows....

Yes, this is what I call my bathroom.  Feel sorry for me, I do.

You have no idea how much strength it takes me not take a sledge hammer to the tile and then call my landlord and say "oops sorry, it slipped".

Anyone out there have any amazing before and after photos of apartment bathrooms? Maybe your own, maybe not, it doesn't matter. I feel like my brain is beyond fried from school & my creative juices are tapped out. Kinda like Vicki's love tank last year.  I'm taking any and all suggestions, so send 'em along. peaceloveandthanks times two.

Thats it for now and dont forget to enter the pillow cover giveaway here.

Happy Weekend!

Dreaming in Octagons

OK, you are all going to think I've lost it after you read this post.  Why? Because its all about toilets.

Recently my apartment toilet was replaced with a low flush toilet and I HATE IT.  I don't hate the low flush part, I hate that its lower and longer and they took out two pipes from our tile wall to install it and left the two damn holes! It drives me nuts to say the least.  I mean clearly they didn't measure anything when they went and bought a new one, ugg.

Anywoo, I was browsing online this morning and I came across the prettiest, loveliest toilet I've ever seen.  I want it, and I wont rest till I own my very own place and I can have this toilet.

Enter the Duravit 1930's Series Toilet

The shape is so pretty and different and it had me at hello.

Want to see it in action? (get your mind out of the gutter, I mean used in an interior space) Here are the photos that made me fall in love

(both photos from Fawn Galli)

Then I got to thinking about how awesome I could make this imaginary bathroom of mine.  I would repeat the octagon shape throughout the space!

How about a mirror like Naomi used in this boys bathroom?

I could use octagon marble tile on the floors like Anne Chessin did in the photo above

OK these are hexagons, but they are pretty pretty!

I could use some octagon shaped cabinet and drawer pulls

and lastly, I would throw a few octagonal shaped monograms on some hand towels, bath towels or maybe even a shower curtain.

All this day dreaming because of a toilet shape.
