Recently my apartment toilet was replaced with a low flush toilet and I HATE IT. I don't hate the low flush part, I hate that its lower and longer and they took out two pipes from our tile wall to install it and left the two damn holes! It drives me nuts to say the least. I mean clearly they didn't measure anything when they went and bought a new one, ugg.
Anywoo, I was browsing online this morning and I came across the prettiest, loveliest toilet I've ever seen. I want it, and I wont rest till I own my very own place and I can have this toilet.
Enter the Duravit 1930's Series Toilet
The shape is so pretty and different and it had me at hello.
Want to see it in action? (get your mind out of the gutter, I mean used in an interior space) Here are the photos that made me fall in love
(both photos from Fawn Galli)
Then I got to thinking about how awesome I could make this imaginary bathroom of mine. I would repeat the octagon shape throughout the space!
How about a mirror like Naomi used in this boys bathroom?
I could use octagon marble tile on the floors like Anne Chessin did in the photo above
OK these are hexagons, but they are pretty pretty!
I could use some octagon shaped cabinet and drawer pulls
and lastly, I would throw a few octagonal shaped monograms on some hand towels, bath towels or maybe even a shower curtain.
All this day dreaming because of a toilet shape.

Things I never ever thought that I would say... "I love that toilet!"
Here I was thinking about switching out our white flush handle for a silver one to fancy it up a bit and there you are talking about fancy toilets. That is a really nice toilet!
Ok, seriously this is just too odd. I am wearing an octagonal necklace.....it is a sign!
The Octo gods are aligning!!!

Gotta hand it to ya, you are right! It does make a difference and I do like this better than the avg toilet! Sounds strange using the word toilet in a comment but shouldn't the whole bathroom be pretty?!!
I almost fell out of my chair giggling at this. Because it would be just like me to become obsessed with a pretty toilet. I can see my husband rolling his eyes now when I tell him, OMG one of my blog friends just found the prettiest toilet and now we MUST have them in every bathroom! This conversation is totally happening at our house tonight :)
Patricia, it is a sign!! Totally meant to be today!!
Sarah, I wish I could be a fly on the wall when you have that talk wtih your husband :)
I LOVE that red octagon mirror!
I love this post and may want to borrow it for our Designer Bath blog! We carry Duravit at our Beverly showroom. You should stop by sometime and I will give you a tour! We also have some fun designer/blogger events planned. I will put you on the invite list!

Thanks for the mention, Linds!
Personally, I'd go for the floor tile or mirror over the toilet, but whatever floats your boat ;)
I'm pretty obsessed with all things octagon too. Working on a custom octo-ottoman right now. It's going to be faboo.
We've already replaced two toilets in our house and I didn't even give it a thought. I let my husband pick them out. Silly me :(
Great post...love octagons, especially mirror octagons!
octogone potty! :) i love it! and i feel your pain- our old house had pink tile... and it just drove me crazy. one weekend, i epoxied (sp?) the whole thing and painted the walls dark espresso. i would literally get giddy when i walked back in it afterwards. :)
The toilet is nice (Toto has nice ones, too.) But you might want to price out replacement toilet seats before you buy. It might be very expensive to replace one like that.
Those are really nice inspirations! since we're talking about bathroom details....have you ever thought about using water saving and environmentally friendly faucets?
