the most wonderful day

hello everyone, I'm BACK and I'm a MRS!!

Thank you everyone for all the good wishes and sweet messages while I was away- I really had the best time of my life and I would give anything to be able to rewind time just for an hour so I can go back and enjoy it all over again. (I guess all brides say this and I see why now)

While I don't have any of the professional photos yet, here are a few sneak peeks to hold you over till I get more back and organized.
First I'll show you where I was all night long...

The dance floor!!!

The room all ready for the ceremony (dinner tables set up off to the side)
hanging programs on the reserved chairs (see PVE's amazing work there- I LOVE it)

Flowers just delivered. They were bright and brighter- just how I wanted them

All ready to go...

saying my vows, laughing at something

And the back of my dress since I know you all want to see the most important detail

As you can imagine it's going to take me some time to get back into the swing of blogging.  I can't WAIT to get settled and get my act together so I can share with you all my fun wedding projects and details that I've been dying to share with you for the last 9+ months.

one-of-a-kind love

Hi everyone!  So sorry for the lack of posts lately, I have been going out of my mind with last minute wedding planning.  I can't BELIEVE its only 4 days away!

But before I leave you to go get married I wanted to share with you one my favorite details of the wedding. It comes to you from none other than the most generous and kind blogger out there...Patricia from PVE.

This beautiful, amazing, stunning, one-of-a-kind illustration showed up in my inbox one afternoon
To say that I love it is an understatement- I seriously had tears in my eyes and was shaking from the overwhelming feeling of love and kindness from Patricia.  It is the most beautiful illustration and will take center stage at my wedding this Saturday.

No amount of thank yous to Patricia can express how grateful I am for such a piece.  But, my guests will surely know just how much I love it because it's repeated over and over again in the details.

Thank you Patricia, I will cherish this for YEARS and every time I look at it I will think of you and my wedding!!

If you have never checked out Patricia's blog, be sure to head over there now and say hi!

PS- I'll be sure to have lots and lots of photos taken to show you just how this illustration was used to show you all.

Just a little

My parents tell me that I'm only a little Irish. So in honor of green day here are a few things I love that have just a little green in them.

The Invites

So I know getting our invite in the mail does not compare to getting an invite from the future king and queen, but hey it's pretty damn close in my opinion.

Anyway since we have received all the replies back I figured now is a good time to show you what they looked like.  Starting from the outside envelope this is how they turned out
The outside envelope was white with blue writing

Thanks to the amazing work of Janis from Navy Bean my vision for fun calligraphy came true.  Any brides or future brides out there, she is amazing and I highly recommend her!

I completely forgot to take a picture of the envelope with the stamp we used, but in case anyone is interested I went with the king and queen stamps. I did alot of research on the whole design your own stamps idea, but I realized the king and queen stamps had the perfect colors and I really love the design of them.

The white envelope opened up to an orange inside envelope with white writing

Inside the orange envelope was a blue folded card tied with a gold ribbon

I also lined all of the orange envelopes with gold paper. It's actually gold wrapping paper that was $2.99 a roll that I cut all the liners from- it was much more cost effective doing it this way rather than buying precut liners.  But it was ALOT of work- be warned if you are going to do this yourself, start early!

Inside the blue folded card was the actual invite.  This was the only part of the invite I had professionally printed through Paper Source (the rest I printed myself at home).  I went with a simple horizontal design with fonts in orange and dark blue.

And there is the first view of the elephant, a theme that started early in the planning and took off from there.

I forgot to take a picture of the hotel card I printed up, but here is a view of the reply card I made.

It took a long time for the fiancĂ© and I to agree on the yes and no reply sayings.  We wanted something other then the normal accepts with pleasure or declines with regret.  I decided to carry over the word festivities from the actual invite and I really love what we ended up with.

I printed my parents address on the front of the pre-stamped orange envelopes in the same font as our names were in from the invite card.  (For anyone who is interested the two fonts I used are Changeling and Futura Light)

More details of the wedding will be posted as soon as I get photos of everything.
12 short days to go!!

Join us for a tea party

In the middle of planning my own wedding details and getting last minute things ready, I'm also a bridesmaid in one of my best friends weddings.  I LOVE all things wedding so this is a blast for me.

We are having her wedding shower two short weeks after I get married and since I planned my own wedding invitations (I promise to post those pictures soon) I volunteered to make her shower invites.

The theme is a tea party- so what do all tea parties need?  Pretty tea cups. And that's exactly the inspiration for the shower invites.

Her colors are pink and gray with hints of green,  so these hot pink invites went into pink lined gray envelopes.  I was so happy how they came out, and more importantly so was the bride-to-be!

As more details of her shower are planned I'll be sure to those too.

The Who's Who

Sorry this post is a day late, lots of last minute things going on.  I have done as much as I can in advance for this wedding, but of course there are always things that can't be done till the last second.

One of those things is the wedding ceremony programs (we are writing the ceremony ourselves, which is why this waited till last minute) There are so many fun and creative ideas for guests to know who is who and the order of things.  These are my top favorites

Cute ribbon bound book with a scalloped edge

If I was getting married in the summer, these fans would be super cute

Or how about a hanging fan

I like the tri-fold look to these programs- the second one has really fun fonts which I LOVE

The road map version is perfect for a city themed wedding

These would look so pretty in a basket all piled up

This origami wedding program is so creative, how fun would this be to play with while waiting for the ceremony to begin?

Martha does it again, this hanging pocket program is great and eliminates the need for someone to hand them out

I will tell you that I have already planned out my programs- the materials are ready and they are being printed shortly.  If you want a hint- they are a combination of a few of the ideas I have listed above.

I promise to share them in about 18 days.

PS- it's not too late to change mine, so if any of you have seen a really fun and creative wedding program out there, please share!

Show your feathers

This office makes me think of a male bird showing his colors and strutting his stuff for a female bird.

Don't ask me why I think that, my mind works in weird ways.

totally rockin'

When I posted my orange lampshade DIY a few of you asked about that little rock box that was on the table.

Well the idea came from these Eduardo Garza and Plantation boxes I had seen

I liked the pink one best, so I put on my thinking cap and came up with my own version

I think it adds some nice color to this ugly brown side table (which needs to go, but right now that little project is at the bottom of the to-do list)

So happy its Thirsty Thursday, I really could use a cocktail right about now (see here to know why).

Check ya later.

Just keeping it real over here in LEB land...this what my family room floor looks like right now

There are no words for the DISASTER that is going on my family room right now.
