My months and months of wedding planning is starting to come together! All the details that I've spent HOURS on are starting to fall into place and I can't tell you how happy it makes me.
Today I was focusing on what I will use as my Something old, new, borrowed and blue and thought I'd share some ideas
Something old- lets see, there has to be some piece of jewelry in your family or future husbands family you can use? That can count as borrowed too- knock two things off the list with one item.
In most cases the dress is whats new, and if not maybe new shoes? Something New seems to be an easy one since almost everything for the bride is new
Jewelry again? See Something Old above for more ideas. I think a piece of jewelry is the easiest to borrow- but are there any other ideas out there?
So many choices for Something Blue. Shoes, garter, sapphires, nail polish? At first I thought I wanted blue shoes, but figured if I was going to spend an arm and a leg on shoes I want something I can wear over and over again. My something blue might be a sapphire ring my grandma gave me awhile ago. Its old too, ancient really, double score for Something Old and Something Blue.
Any other ideas out there- what did you all do for your Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue?

fun! you've got some great ideas.
Wonderful to pay homage to an old and lovely quote.
I borrowed a diamond necklace, very simple from a dear old friend and the new was my dress, the blue - my bridesmaids wore...my garter had a touch of blue..
and a sixpence in my shoe.

Love this! I got married in December and here was my list:
Old: I tied a hankerchief that was my great grandmother's around my bouquet. Also served as double duty for the unavoidable tears!
New: My dress
Borrowed: I wore a diamond necklace that my brother-in-law gave my sister on their wedding day
Blue: A sapphire ring that I wore on my right hand with my engagement ring
One of my bridesmaids gave me these as my "blue". I LOVED them. Made me feel so sexy!

love!
for my friends wedding, I knew she was getting married(obvi) when i went to Italy(and we're both Catholic) so I got her a blue rosary from the vatican, and had it blessed during a special prayer service I attend with the Pope. She wrapped it around her bouquet. it looked so lovely. When I get married one day I'll probably use that as my something borrowed-if she lets me!
OOOooo, everything is so pretty! For my old, pearl and ruby earrings and necklace that my parents gave me when I turned 18. New, my dress/shoes. Borrowed, handkerchiefs from my mom I wrapped around my bouquet. Blue, my underpinnings!
my sister-in-law wore blue shoes and they were amazing!
Beautiful ideas! Are those blue shoes the same ones from "Sex and the City" the movie ... it was on TV last night and fresh in my mind.
My mother clipped a small lace flower from her wedding dress and pinned in inside the skirt of mind for my something old. Also: my mother's pearl necklace for something borrowed, a gift of pearl earrings from my mother-in-law for something new and teal shoes in my wedding color for something blue. I also had a peacock feather hair clip that had blue in it...
I looove the idea of blue shoes! Or your blue ring would be great too, then it can be your something old too!
So exciting. I think you are on the right track. Wear the ring that your grandparents gave you for sure. As for the borrowed item, I would be more than happy to loan you something...ok so that wouldn't be very sentimental since our relationship has not gone out of blogging bounds:-) Seriously though if you don't have anything lined up for a hair accessory or sash or broach do need an accessory I would love to make you a gift and send it your way.

Very cool post, I lucked out and mine was an all in one deal...
Something old-Grandma's diamond
Something new-New setting
Something borrowed-It was my mom's since my Grandma had passed away
Something blue-it has sapphires set on either side of the center stone
I'm sure you'll find just the right thing! Enjoy!!

For my own wedding my something new was my dress and necklaces (I wore pearls that my husband had given me the Christmas before and for the reception switched it out to a simple white gold diamond necklace he bought me in London and had engraved with "joined" and the date.)
My something blue was a pale blue hanky one of my closest friends had hand-embroidered with my initials.
And my something old and something borrowed were the same thing. We have a family friend who owns a jewelry store who loaned me antique diamond earrings for the wedding. My biggest regret was not buying them. They were stunning.
aw! sex and the city was on tv last night and I was admiring Carrie's blue shoes! Love those!!
Glad to hear the wedding planning is going well!
I would LOVE to see a bride rock an old pocket-watch like the one in your post! Maybe tucked into the sash and hanging down...
My something old was a hankie from my great grandmother. My something new and blue were the same thing: my wedding dress.
So well put together. Really lovely.
I love wedding planning! Will a friend get engaged already and insist on me helping plan! HEHE Though when I planned my wedding I didn't want much help..lol I got married 4 years ago, and here is what I did, something old: my grandmothers ring (who passed away), something new: my necklace and earring from my mom, something borrowed: my flower girl insisted that I wear one of her cute little rings, so I did! Something blue: light blue lacy boy short panties. ;) I like the idea of a blue garter too! I had 2 garters, a white one, and then last minute I put on a fun one for the traditional garter toss.
Gorgeous! Oh, to be young and in love again! :)
I love all of your ideas. I have not even started thinking this far ahead.
I just read your comments and was glad to read that I am not the only crazy bride with two wedding dresses. You need to check out preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed. Someone bought mine from Preownedweddingdresses in less than a month.
"Something new" was the hardest one for me! I was fortunate enough to have my great grandmother's diamond and saphire bracelet to wear. Old/ borrowed AND blue. I wore one sister's wedding dress, the other's veil, a cousin's hair comb. At the last minute I decided to buy new shoes. Start asking friends and family! A good friend is wearing the "family" veil at her wedding :) It is all too nice/expensive to only be worn once.
I only did the "something blue" - my engagement ring is an aquamarine!

My sister in law wore blue shoes, which I thought was crazy when she told me but I actually love it! If I could do it over I would wear blue shoes.
