I see the light

Do you ever go through your house and just want to start all over again?  Some days I love my apartment and other days I'd like to change it up.  I pretend that I have unlimited funds and go on crazy online shopping sprees.

Today its lighting.

I have two flush mount fixtures in my long hallway- they are standard apartment grade and not my favorite.  You don't know how many times I'd dreamed about ripping those suckers down and replacing them with something new.

Loving all the brass/gold colors lately.  I used to HATE it and think it was so 80's looking- but it is really growing on me

Back to the standard silver/chrome finishes but with a little more modern feel.  The anemone one is totally something that I never would have picked for myself, but it is really calling my name.

I've thought about the DIY route- there are some pretty great tutorials out there on how to make drum shades. But, I have yet to find a good tutorial on how to cover up apartment lighting.  I would love my readers forever if they knew of any...I know you do.

(all lighting fixtures above from Circa Lighting, Bellacor, and Neena's Lighting)

I think we design types are always re-doing our homes in our minds. I have two list,my someday list, this consist of things that are possible to Get someday in the future and then my wish list which are things that are fun to dream about but I realize they will probably not be in my future. Love the first batch of lights, it would be hard to pick a fav on that group. Keep dreaming you never know what might be in your future, Kathysue

I went through a fire last April when I was still up at school in Alabama. I lost everything, but luckily it was just a bedroom since it was a college house. I've had fun getting to completely start over - but it is so stressful!! I can't even imagine what would come of having to replace everything in an entire house! I had A LOT of stuff crammed in that one bedroom, and doing the claims and stuff took forever!! But, it could be delightfully fun if you were up to the task and just wanted a big project - a fire is obviously unwanted. I love thinking about blank slates and new beginnings though! And I'm IN LOVE WITH ARTIFICAL LIGHTING - of all sorts of funky kinds! Loved this post!!

I can't tell you how many times I want to redo my entire house and closet! Usually after a trip to Anthropologie ;) But my biggest weakness is paint color. I change my walls way to often. It's a disease.

I love all the circa lighting pieces. They are awesome. Debating which one to use in my MIL's place.

I recognize so many of those! I've been doing a ton of light research lately for my master bathroom and almost ordered the Basil fixture from Circa Lighting. Love the antique brass! It's not the same as the 80's stuff because that was polished. It makes a big difference.

Great selection - I think flush mounts are among the hardest to find cool lights - but you proved me wrong! Thank you! deb

Bad lighting can really ruin a ruin--but a good fixture can save it. Love your picks. Don't Young House Love have some tutorials for drum shade ceiling lights?
