Ok, so I know JCrew has got it going on. They have great clothes, great style, and always put together really great things. Get where I'm going with this...I think they are great!
Anyway, I know that I'm usually a little behind when it comes to the latest and greatest. So when I saw this on the Jcrack website I had to stop in my tracks and say, really? Is that cool, should I be wearing that too?

So all you little fashion mavens out there- is this sock thing in??
Do tell!

Not my style, that's for sure. If folks are wearing, they're certainly far more daring than I am and live a much more cosmopolitan setting than I.
hahahahah NO PLEASE NO!!!
I have to say- looking through the catalog yesterday, I'm not a fan of what's going on with their models below the shins... not so much into the rolled up pant thing and socks showing & all that... (I'm so super out of the loop but i really can't see going out like that!!!)
on another note-- how much are you loving all the layered vintage0inspired jewelry?!!!
No. No. No. Both the socks and the shoes cut off the line....which would make you look longer and taller. If you are Giselle then you can pull this off – maybe
I scrolled down and was wondering where the wackness was going to start. I hope this isn't cool. But if it is, then I'm going to rock out with my knee-high american apparel striped sports socks out. because it's COOL.
miss you leb! xo
Haha-- I refuse-- even if it IS in style, it probably won't be for long :-)
DEF NOT! Looks fine and dandy on that model but if I walked out on the street like that I'd be a laughing joke. It's so old lady!
I love j.crew but I agree sometimes the styling is out there for me!
Will have to ask the girls if they have seen it around.
I reacted the same way when I flipped through my catalogue! I think it's a models-only thing, and I especially loathe the sheer and fishnet ankle height ones!
ugh, yeah, even if it's a trend, I plan to VETOE.
Ugh, I'm not fan of this look, but apparently the stylists for "Ugly Betty" are - she was sporting ankle socks with open-toe heels in a few scenes in the season premier.
Maybe if you're six foot and a hundred pounds (soaking wet) - otherwise, I see a big black box over your eyes, and a feature spot in Glamour's "Don'ts" - but that's just my old, preggo-mama self talkin'! ;)
If it is in style right now, it shouldn't. Even the best of them cannot pull this off (i.e. model in photo). I just think it looks ridiculous.
I think only a model could pull this off. If your legs aren't stick thin and you're not extremely tall, this is going to cut you off and make your legs look stumpy. Not sexy.
HA Jcrack...I love that. I think they are a bit "cracked" out with some of their prices too... I saw a jacket in the catalogue for $2500! My jaw dropped- it's fur and part of JCrew "Collection" but still!
As for socks and shoes- it's cute styled in their catalogue pages but don't think I will be sporting this trend...
No thanks - makes most people look stumpy and their legs heavy. JCrew can pull almost any look off on their hot models but it doesn't translate to real world bodies!
I hope not! Also did you notice all the tight rolled jeans? I remember doing that in jr. high. Could that possibly be back?
I was thinking the same thing too! I think I'll stick to wearing my sock with tennis shoes and leave it at that!
It's revolting. I was waiting for someone to blog about this...
I have to agree on the mess that is happening on the feet of all of the jcrew models. There are other offenses in addition to the socks. I am like... are you kidding? seriously? You expect me to wear that. She looks like Ms. Hannigan from Annie.

no socks and sandals
This is yet another example of 'looks good on models.'
It looks adorable here, but in real life, it translates like you're the crazy person wearing black socks under her high heels.
Cannot handle the socks!!
The model just baaarely pulls it off, which means a normal person trying to rock this look would look like a complete idiot! :p
haha, to all the comments.
No, I wouldn't try this one. I think this is just J.Crew trying to be cheeky and get creative with their styling. Plus it gives them additional (and overpriced) items to sell.
I'm so glad we all agree here. Socks + heels = a big, fat no no!
:-) Definitely not a socks and shoes girl. And I too noticed the peg-legged jeans!!
Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I'm dying to try the socks + heels look. I even like the slouchy knee socks with heels! It definitely has to be with the right length skirt, or even better, with rolled up jeans. I just like layers and colors and any opportunity to add more visual interest to an outfit. And hey, anything is better than those hideous flat fold-down boots worn over skinny jeans, which seems to be the style du jour...
