...that is the question. I painted my new chair project white already and I don't know if I should keep going and just paint this side table white as well?
Its not an expensive thing, and I suppose worst case I can find something else for this space if I hate it- but the room just seems to dark now with the new paint and the dark Oriental rug.
(PS- as Jenny pointed out it is cluttered looking, I know. BUT this is an old picture of the area. I didn't have another one to show the table so I just went with it. I'll have to take new ones tonight)
The paint color is Benjamin Moore, White Dove or OC-17 for you paint people. So, do I paint it or no- please help?

I think it would look great painted white with the dark floor and dark accessories on the table.
If you paint it and leave it here will it blend into the wall? Perhaps another approach to try prior to deciding to paint would be to bring in other light elements around it, on it, below it.
Just a thought! Good luck and looking forward to seeing the completed chair...Janell
i say paint it. but i wonder if there isn't too much stuff there? it seems overstuffed. the scale is bothering me. like maybe the basket is too big? too much stuff on the bottom shelf? something.
are u offended? please don't be.
xoj
hahah, Jenny I'm so not offended!! Its actually an old picture, and I should have said that, I re-worked that area because it bothered me but I have yet to take pics of it.
Janell- that was my thought too! I dont want it to get lost but I feel like there is so much wood in the room already and I didnt want to add another color because the orange and blue I have is already alot, ya know?
hmm, lots to think about, this is hard :)
If it's going to stay there (with the white wall), I'd say leave it. And I was about to suggest a bright color, til I read the orange and blue part! Whoops!
I'm with Isabella & Max - I think painting it white will make it fade into the background. Have you considered other paint colors?
I'd say it kind of depends (isn't this always my answer? :-)) If the space is small, you may WANT the chair and table to blend in against the white wall a bit so the space feels larger. However, if the space is larger, you want the furniture to stand out. So depends a bit on where it's going. In general, I like to get my pieces to match for symmetry, but there's no reason it has to be that way.
I'd love to see the rest of the space -is this the same room as where you have the bookcases with the blue back wall? Also, new photos showing how it currently looks would be helpful.

Paint it but maybe go with a color. can't wait to see what you do!
hmm, I think it depends on the rest of the room. Do you have any other natural wood pieces in the space? I always think there should be at least one instead of a bunch of painted pieces.of course that;s just me:)
I say no. I like the wood color. If you paint it, it might look too matchy matchy.
Have you thought of a high glossy grey instead of the white. I know what the rest of your living room looks like and I think it will work better than white and against the fabric colors of chair. What do you think? I can't wait to see what you do with it.
I would paint it, but not white. What about peacock blue? Or a fresh green? (one of the colors from your artwork on the walls?)
Wait to paint! I would see what everything looks like after all of yor projects and then decide!
I wonder what you'll decide! I was going to suggest either a deep deep charcoal-black just to anchor it a bit better or a shade or 2 deeper than the peacock blue you painted the bookcase interiors. I don't know what other pieces you have in the space off of the hall!
I also wanted to tell you...I posted some more wedding pics...
Have a great weekend!
