When my family was cleaning out my grandparents house I came across your typical junk drawer. When I looked closer I noticed that it was a stack of quotes, jokes and funny little sayings my Grampy had written down on scraps of paper over the years and stuffed in this drawer. Knowing they were probably going to get thrown out I grabbed a couple of my favorites to keep.
Never really knowing what to do with them and not wanting to throw them out, they lived in my junk drawer...that is until now.

love this... I have a letter my grandfather wrote to my daughter about her namesake (my grandmother) before he passed. They never had a chance to meet. framing it would be so much better that keeping it in a drawer.
That is such a sweet way to keep your grandpa close by! I love reading notes that my grandmother scribbled in her cookbooks - something about seeing her handwriting is really comforting.
I LOVE This idea, so sweet! and personal! I also have some of my grandmothers cook books with her notes and ripped up check stubs as the book marks! So funny! Ps. I am also obsessed with the blue/orange combo and what you're doing to your shelves! :)
I LOVE that idea. It makes me want to go dig threw my mom and dad's love notes to each other when they were apart for two years.

Awesome!! I actually redid my bedroom this week and came across a note I thought I had lost from my late grandmother. It tells the history of a plate she gave me. I scanned it in my computer in case it ever gets misplaced again. My sister suggested I frame it and put it with the plate... and now that I've seen this, I think it has inspired me to do it!
Now that is priceless...how wonderful you saved it from possibly being thrown out.

I think framing his quotes is a great way to remember him (and his humor, judging from the quote you framed!). I kept most of the letters my grandmother wrote me, and I love reading them. Maybe I should frame one too...
I hung up an older letter from my Gramps too and get so many compliments on it!

Not only should a mantle be for decor, but since it's the focal point of any room I always think it should include something sentimental for closer looks which speak volume's about the owner's personality. This little framed note from your Grampy is a treasure! And everyone needs a junk drawer, altho they always seem to be full of too-good-to-thrown-away items! Can't wait to see the completely living room.
