Out with the old, in with the older

I had this framed picture up in my bathroom- you know one of those cheesy mass-produced framed things you can get at any home store...yea I don't know what I was thinking buying that either. I could not go in the bathroom without seeing that stupid thing and wanting to take it down.

So down it came... it was time for a makeover. Out came the pliers, scissors, and x-acto knife and to work I went.
First, I ripped off the back brown paper cover
Then, I bent up the staples that were holding the piece of cardboard down (yea this thing was totally put together with some quality materials)
I used the x-acto knife to cut out the old picture
Empty frame

My Grandma had given me two vintage postcards of the lake we used to vacation on every summer when I was a kid. She found them at an antique shop and bought them for me knowing I would love them. I've had them for awhile but hadn't found a place for them, so when I saw the empty frame I knew exactly what would go in there...one of my vintage post cards!

Its a tad small for the frame, so this might just be a temporary fix- but for $0 its much prettier to look at!

love that it has sentimental value. a great in-the-meantime update.

p.s. i didn't bid on anything on ebay - so i'm not the one who outbid you! but i'm curious to know if you did and what. i have my eyes on some items available to me locally. if i get 'em, fingers crossed, i plan on doing a post :)

I have some small vintage postcards of Niagara Falls that I think would look great framed this way! Thanks for the inspiration.
