Margot Austin is the senior design editor at Style at Home, my new favorite magazine from, you guessed it, north of the border Canada.
Not sure how I stumbled upon her work but I'm sure glad I did!! All of these images make me want to run home and completely redo my apartment with all these soothing neutral color palettes.
Notice the silhouettes above this tray table...I love that they took a traditional idea and flipped it upside down by doing the whole body and not just the face profile.
Getting ready for work every morning would be much more pleasant with a space like this to do my make-up...or as I call it "putting on my face"
Love the seagrass on this console table, the glass top makes it a little more durable too. Don't forget that shegreen tray- the added texture in the same color as the seagrass makes it very pretty to look at
Such a great idea for those small apartments- the lack of legs give you a pretty table without taking up much space- love it
This kitchen island is lovely, I love the colors in this kitchen and especially that light, swoon!
a different view of the island
I love everything in this room but paired with the little frenchie napping on the settee it just sends it right into the category of perfection to me
mini tiles= yummy
I need to find little topiaries like these. They add life and color to an already pretty mantle.
another dog and stacked pewter lids as art...love it.
Such a pretty desk space...my favorite thing here is the chair with the nice cover- what a great way to turn an ugly black/gray office chair into something that is much easier on the eyes
Shower head, light fixture, shower curtain, counter top, wall color- it is all divine
Notice the rope railing- its the little details that make an uninteresting staircase fun. Oh and the wine fridge...a must have for all those party people
The yellow side table is the perfect punch in the face this room needed :)
The Canadian design scene has really peeked my attention...they seem to have my favorite magazines and websites, all with really great ideas. What do you think?

OMG I will take the kitchen {all of it} and the frenchie! So stinkin cute, I want a frenchie to add to my fur kids!
But really the island table, with those gray legs...!!! loving it. Not to mention that storage behind the cabinets & wine storage!
Wow, those silhouettes are beautiful! I've been looking on etsy to have some custom ones made for my own home!
I saved pics of that bedroom and bath the other day, but had no idea they were in the same apt! And that kitchen! Couldn't you just die!?
Beautiful pics! Love that you can spot a little ikea here and there :)
The kitchens are awesome! I love the second pic of the little vanity as well. Great space for freshening your face!
That light gray bathroom and shower curtain are my favorite! I am definitely saving this to my inspiration folder.
Why do I always love other people's homes in soft, neutral palettes and yet, I always paint everything in my house dark? Hmmm.
Emily, I do the same thing!! Its making me want to go home and repaint right now :)
I'm in kitchen makeover mode, so they kitchen pics seemed extra fabulous to me! Especially the island!! I saw one kind of like that at the counter top place the other day. I'm pretty sure I drooled on it. I loved the shower curtain in that bathroom too. Plus, that little mini bar area mounted to the wall was fantastic!
I completely agree. What inspirational images!
talk about a yummy post.
I would happily move here! The bathroom is too cute. BTW, my grandma always referred to makeup application as "putting her face on". :-)
Laura are you calling me a Grandma?!? Actually, I think I got that saying from my Grandma too...it sounds like something a classy older lady would say :)
Can I move right in, alone!
I would promise to take good care of the dog too.

Absolutely Gorgeous... each and every room! I love her work space especially ~~

I love all of these rooms! They are all so beautifully designed and look so clean and chic! Thanks for sharing.
Hey y'all (that's me putting on an "American" accent, tee hee), I blush profusely at this comment stream and the post. WOW! Here are a few replies:
1. the silhouettes: these are a super-easy DIY. Both are famous fashion photos -- the top one is by Lilian Bassman and the bottom is one of Chanel (not sure who by). Anyhoo, I just photocopied them, coloured them in with a black Sharpie then copied them again in black and white. IKEA Ribba frames -- and done!
2. That Frenchie is my girl Lulu.
3. If you like this stuff, stop by styleathome.com (the site for the mag where I work). Or, buy yourself a digital copy of STYLE AT HOME by visiting Zinio.com and searching under Homes & Gardens.
cheers to all of you!
oh my gosh, these rooms are beautiful! clean and chic with a personal touch. thanks for sharing!
cute! I love it all too.
All of the fun designers I have been loving lately are all Canadian. What's up with that? Maybe I should have gone to school in Canada.
the rope railing is great--what a perfect (and inexpensive) idea for extra narrow stairwells. Love all the pretty neutrals!
OMG, I can not believe that Margot found my blog and commented on here- love you Margot!! You just made day/week by commenting on here- thank you!!
Absolutely stunning. I love the color palette - such pretty grays throughout. So glad I found your blog.
omg im loving all of these!!!!!!
I think my favorite room is the bathroom--the color looks real to me and not like it was designed to be photographed. A very great designer in this respect. Thanks Linds!!
We love working with Margot! She has amazing ideas and her style is timeless.
My fave is her kitchen. I will never get sick of looking at those images!

It's all so pretty. Love that kitchen.
I don't know where to start. Kitchen island and lantern, bath wall color and shower curtain...it's all really, really good!
I just found her the other week, too. OBSESSED WITH THAT KITCHEN!!!
oh, and the rope on the stairs is so cute. very Steven Gambrel.
I hate to sound needy, but I NEED that kitchen tile please...and the first photograph? Love what they've done with the silhouettes there...so I need those too.
Sorry, I'm back again. I just read up and saw that she commented about the silhouettes! very exciting! another project to add to the list!!!
They had me at the Frenchie!
So, so beautiful. I love Style at Home, and these designs are truly inspiring.
Can anyone provide source information on the shower curtain fabric? Love it!
I'll have the kitchen!! Yespleaseloveit!
Fantastic! Highlights for me are the pewter lids as art and the marble counter-type table. What ideas!
I love Margot Austin's work too. All her spaces are so divine and doable too, not pretentious. I am a Style at Home subscriber -it was my piece of "Canada" that came to my mailbox when I lived in the US. You know that they do mail to the US!!
So pretty! I just saved the pics of the kitchen for inspiration for our new place!
WOW!! I wouldn't change a thing in any of these rooms. Also, when can I move in? Thanks for the eye candy, Linds!
Oh my gosh! That dog is so cute! Do you notice that every time he's in a picture, his little tongue is peeking out?? Precious!!
I love that kitchen! I just did a post on how I'm loving white rooms right now! I have so many saved on my computer for inspiration - and I never thought of myself as someone who'd have white walls!
I'll have to check her work out! Thanks for sharing!
Hi, just in case Melissa checks back -- the shower curtain fabric is a Victoria Hagan Home linen called Four Seasons in the colour Winter. I have to say it was a big splurge! The IKEA Stockholm Blad curtains are a similar colour palette for WAY less $$
Margot thank you so much for checking back in and revealing the source of that amazing shower curtain! I might have to check out the Ikea one, seems its more in my budget :)
