Tres Chic Part II

So many of you were very kind and had such nice things to say about my last tray project that I decided to try another one.  To switch it up I picked a much harder design,  why not up the design ante right?

To recap, here is what both trays looked like before

and here is what my first tray project looked like

gotta love me some orange zigzags!

And latest tray creation...a gray and white David Hicks inspired design

I had some glass cut for this tray, and actually the zig zag one too.  Even though I used a protective lacquer spray, I just wanted that extra layer to protect all my hard work.  The glass works perfectly and makes the tray look finished.

I used the same technique as last time, just covered the tray in painters tape and cut out my pattern with an x-acto knife

It's the perfect thing to use to carry drinks from the kitchen to the family room when guests are over

These tray projects are starting to become addictive!

I obviously have a hard time passing up clearance aisle trays and boxes if you haven't noticed from all the projects I've been doing lately.   At least I'll have enough storage around my apartment.

Happy Christmas week everyone!!

I love these trays. When I save the first post. I gathered all my little supplies, but have yet to do anything. I'm being lazy :)

I can't believe you mapped that out so perfectly with painter's tape - I assumed you used a rectangle of wrapping paper or wallpaper! So pretty.

Fabulous - I think you need to start an etsy store for the trays with all different patterns - oops - see that sketch42 already had that idea - well you know what they say - great minds...

Mece, I had my glass cut at a local glass store and for both of them it was around $14. Check your area for plate glass, automotive, or hardware stores and I'm sure you can get glass cut somewhere locally :)

Totally cool! I have been making trays for my son's teachers for the past 4 years and I am always in search of cool trays to decoupage, so I'm wondering where you got your trays...they are fabulous and you made them incredibly cool!

Lindsay,
I just commented on your other tray that it remined me of some small plates that I have. Then duuuh, I remembered that the plates are in my current post. Have a look & let me know if you have any tips on a tray of this sort.
Love these too and the glass makes it very crisp & expensive looking.
I tell ya...you are on to something my dear!
Happy New Year!

Your trays turned out amazing! I am really enjoying your blog,

Danielle, I got those two trays at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. They tend you have different trays everytime I go in there so I keep an eye out for the shape and then I just paint over whatever color it happens to be. Good luck!
