Playing House

Did you ever play house when you were little?  I sure did. I can remember having such a vivid imagination creating the most amazing stories and places.  I can remember actually imagining my own house with a kitchen, family room, bedroom...the whole nine yards.

Now that I am older I like to play a different version of house. I like to actually pick out the furniture and accessories that would go in my home if I could pick out new furniture daily.

Today I was on craigslist and had an urge to see what I could come up with for a dining room.

I found this table first

 a pretty rustic, farmhouse table

This Madeline Weinrib rug would be great to put under it

Then a pair of these wing chairs for either end- upholstered in Rubie Green Mary

add these bentwood chairs painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove

And the walls would be painted in bold white and pink stripes using Benjamin Moore's Springtime Bloom

Hey, I did say it was MY dining room.  I did'nt say I had to share it with anyone (specifically the fiance who hates pink),  remember we are playing house here.

What would you pick out for a dining room if you were playing house?

I've got a pink silk sofa in our living room....for my husband's information...the color is cranberry. It's all in the delivery! Fun dining room. Esp. love the wing chairs and that fabric!

I'd DEFINITELY do wingback, or some other distinctive type of upholstered "host" chairs at the end of the dining table - it's too good a look to pass up!

So cute! I do this all the time... Sadly I am obsessed with Pottery Barn, I think if I ever have my own house and the funds, I will make Pottery Barn's entire quarter sales goal in one shopping trip... Le sigh. Happy Wednesday!

A man is a real man if he can handle pink, right?

If I were to play house, my dining room would have lots of windows, a great funky chandelier, a huge table that could be moved aside for dancing. I would have a buffet for serving and the walls would be a rich navy.
Right outside would be a beach.

Thank you for stopping by the painted house! So glad you had a look-see. :)

I would so love to have a dinner party in that make-believe dining room. Invite me, please. Oh, love those bentwood chairs.

Love the wingback idea! I've never sat on a bentwood chair and have always wondered if they're comfortable. Are they?

I'm a big fan of that rug!

Your idea for the walls is killing me - LOVE! xoxo

Now that's the problem- I LOVE to do this too but have no restraint when it comes to craigs list so I'd want to buy it all. Which might explain the 3 sets of dinning chairs and 2 extra tables in the garage! ;)

It's fun to let your imagination run wild when thinking up a design...you can always pull back a bit afterwards if need be. Janell

I play this all the time. It's called my "if I were not married" house.

btw, I have a teaching interview at the BAC!

Ooh I think your dining room sounds perfect. So chic! Mine would definitely have a dark round mahogany table (I have yet to come across it on Craig's list) with either soft gray chairs or something daring like chartreuse!

Id do something similar...i like the idea of having wing chairs on the ends of the table....so pretty. But i think I would go for a blk & white striped fabric and a white table. :))
