WTF Craig

Craig and I are fighting big time lately!

Craig, please explain to me why it is sooo hard to find something like EITHER of these two items.

I don't have a bazillion dollars to get one of these items at an antique store or custom made, so I need you to come through for me, ok?

ok , rant over now.

  1. The end of the school year is just around the corner -- people will be giving away giant furntiure they don't want to move in a month or two!

It's hard to wait but I always have so much success in may with craiglist!

  2. Try a salvage place...you might find a vintage built in that has been removed. Especially salvage places in an older city with aging housing stock... with a depressed economy...sad but true.

  3. Ha! I totally understand! Craigslist is an exercise in patience...I've found that any particular item wouldn't show up when I was actively looking, only to appear when I relaxed my obsession to find it. Fingers crossed that you find a fab cabinet soon!

  8. Have you heard of Craigeasy? It makes searching through all the posts about a million times easier!!! It takes all the pictures of the items for sale and puts them up for you to quickly scroll through.
Check out the details here: http://craigseasy.com/
Now, it wont magically add that item, but it will make your search much faster! And it might make you forgive Craig a little bit :)

  9. Just a thought, but what if you purchased something from the Mill Store and finished it in the color of your choice: http://www.millstores.com/categorydetail.cfm?cattype=1&catcode=4A&pid=1071

  10. There's two Ikea items that might work. They might not be exactly alike, but you can finish them to get the right feel for under $300 each.

ASPELUND Wardrobe with 3 doors. Not two doors, I know. but there's some detail there and with a bit of faux finishing it might work

BIRKELAND - Wardrobe. Yes it says its a wardrobe. But it looks like it could be a hutch to me.

  12. And I love that someone posted a millstore link on here...your alter ego must be named Robyn! And if Robyn reads this, everytime I ask Linds to find me something she sents me a link to the millstore:)

  13. they should pay her.

Is this my record on comments? because I could keep going.

Oh, I sent my new friend Kelly to your blog and she loves it. You two are going to be BFF, but she's a nice midwesterner, so you might have to break her in gently to your colorful new england vocab:)

  15. I totally feel the same way! I've been searching for campaign furniture on Craigslist for what seems like 88 years with no luck.

And who are these people who find amazing roadside treasures?! The only things I ever see are roadkill and empty beer boxes. Phoenix keeps it classy like that.

Here's to the Craigslist gods smiling on us sooner rather than later!

  16. You might need a good flea market or junk store to find the right thing at the right price (not that these are junk). Or just buy some ugly armoire on Craigs that you can distress the @$#$# out of. Craigs is fun, but frustrating!

  17. I can relate, the only thing I find on my local Craigslist is tacky '80's pieces that were heinous when they were new.

  18. Took me awhile to get it, but hahahaha. I rarely see those cabinets on my CL as well. And I totally relate in it taking forever to find exactly what you want on Craigs, in fact it took me 3 years to find the perfect sofa...hollywood regency style with bright orange velvet. Good luck!!!

  22. I think Craig has decided to never let me find things when I'm really looking for them. As soon as I stop obsessing - they seem to pop up all over!
