  3. Elephants! I love elephants. I come by it naturally since my grandmother (Memere) collected them. I have one of hers on my mantle, and it's one of my favorite pieces of decor.

Love this post, and I am still eyeing that chocolate cake on the table. I think I lost my train of thought there.
Why had they only eaten 1 piece?

  21. I was raised with a superstitious tradition of placing decorative elephants, especially with their trunks up, near entrances to a home. One of my kids asked me where the idea came from and while doing a Google search I read that: "Ornamental elephants are supposed to be good luck, very lucky really. Wooden they say are best, and they should have their trunks up to protect from bad luck... But they are good in groups of eight or nine and should be placed in a wealth area of your home." So I think the idea is originally from the Orient and possibly based on Feng Shui(although I grew up in Cuba.)

  38. I was at a silent auction fundraiser with my husband and his co-workers...long story short the company 'won' a huge white ceramic elephant end table. I was thrilled! Obviously one of the guys who had to bring it back to the office thought it was a joke and threw it in the dumpster. I am still bummed out whenever I see elephants indoors and that was three years ago.
    Thanks..boo hoo hoo....
