Recycle-Upcycle Part 2

Lets try this again...

Once I got the board hung up and stuff on it I decided the white was just too white and looked blah to me.

I feel like it gets lost up there- no pizazz

So off the white fabric came and a piece of burlap went on and added the texture I thought the corner was lacking

So, what do you think? Did it look better before...should I put the white back on?

OR

Do you like it better now?

Spill it, I want to know :)

  1. Hard to say. I like both versions. The burlap texture is great, but what you have on the board adds a nice amount of color so the white doesn't get too washed out. but now looking at it again, I think I prefer the burlap - makes it stand out against the wall just enough so it'll look better when the board is more empty.

  2. I like the burlap!!! Love it! I did just the same thing with burlap to a framed corkboard and it turned out great! I'll get pics up sometime this week...

  4. Both look great, but I think the burlap is the best. It just pops off the wall. I love it!

  5. I love the way the burlap looks! Definitely more texture, without being in your face bright.

  8. I like the burlap, but have you thought about maybe trying a simple pattern to add a little pop?

It is a very darling board, though :)

  10. I actually like both but if I had to choose, I'd say the burlap. It pops better.

  15. I agree with Hayley. A simple pattern to coordinate the black and whites would be lovely. Maybe a damask or a stripe...

  17. Burlap totally works with the galvanized stools. I'm all about a white-on-white theme, typically...but it mos def needed texture! Again, thanks for the corkboard idea...I've been meaning to post mine. Maybe I'll include it when we {finally!!} get our mudroom finished. I also am now on the hunt for a chalkboard...but as I'm allergic to chalk I need a good alt, that ISN'T a dry-erase. Any thoughts?!?!

  18. I'm really liking the burlap; this is a great idea and love the you can probably dig around and use old fabric scraps to totally brighten up a corner- well done!

  21. I like the contrast with the second board, but both are great! As you saw on my blog, "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery"! Thanks for your comment and again, you came up with a brilliant design for making message boards! Janell

  23. Burlap is better - stands out. I'd kind of love to see a brightly patterned fabric, but then you might lose what's actually on the board!

  24. Burlap all the way! I love how it pops off the wall.

I'll get your book in the mail!
